How to repurpose your business content

Helen Bowman • May 17, 2023

You know that incredible feeling you get when you write a great piece of content? It’s taken you hours to curate and create that blog, newsletter, article, case study, or social media post… it explains who you are and what you do, to a tee.

It’s an amazing feeling! You tell your friends and family about it, you might even get brave and post it to your social media platforms, publish it on your blog, or paste it in your newsletter. And you set it free on the world.

You might have received a little flurry of likes, comments and shares – reinforcing your belief that you’ve done a good job. But then the furore dies down and you’re left feeling a little flat. You’ve used all your creative fuel on that piece and the high is over too soon!

So what has gone wrong?

Dare I suggest that you’ve stopped short of gleaning all the benefits that piece of content has the potential to create? There are more opportunities for that bad boy – make the most of them!

Want to know how? Read on!

Getting the most out of your content

There are so many ways you could reuse and recycle that golden nugget and you’ll feel the rush of excitement Every. Single. Time.

Let’s say you’ve written an article or a blog post about the services you provide in your business. Try one, two or all of the following and you’ll get every last morsel of benefit out of your valiant efforts.

  • Edit your piece into a brief offering and send it to your email list. A shorter snippet of your article will tease your audience in, then you can provide a link to the longer piece if they are so inclined.
  • Transfer the bones of the piece onto a social media post. Create a graphic on Canva, write some bullet points and add your logo – your online audience will appreciate the brevity and visual nature while they’re busy scrolling.
  • Get brave and video yourself talking about the topic you’ve covered in your piece. There’s a great app called ‘Teleprompter’ which will help you remember your lines while you’re filming, and videos are a great way to reach more of an audience on social media. It could even be embedded in your article or blog piece as an alternative way for people to consume your content.
  • Ask around your business connections to see if any related businesses would like to feature you as a guest contributor on their website or social media platforms. Consider their audience and rewrite your piece to be relevant to them.
  • Turn your piece into a lead magnet by creating a visually appealing downloadable document and offer it to your audience when they sign up for your newsletter.

And that’s not even an exhaustive list! ☝🏻

A good piece of content doesn’t have to be a one-shot thing.

Update it as time goes on so it stays relevant to your audience. And there is no harm in sharing your content more than once – not everyone sees everything you post, as much as we would like to imagine they do!

Be brave. Celebrate your hard work and you’ll stand more chance of getting your business in front of someone who might provide the next great opportunity for you.

And if it all seems a little too much, drop me an email or find me on social media. We can have a cuppa, chat about your content and I’ll explain how I can help you.

In the meantime, head over to my blog for more copywriting tips and...
